About Us
Skating with spirit. Cheering with heart. United for Minnetonka Hockey.
The Minnetonka Hockey Cheerleading team, also known as the Ice Skippers, are a team of skaters from various local figure skating clubs, united by a love of skating and school spirit. The Minnetonka Ice Skippers combine choreographed individual figure skating skills, synchronized skating skills, dancing, and cheerleading on and off the ice, into one unique unified sport. Led by a former University of Minnesota Gopher Hockey Cheer captain, we cheer from the stands with you and perform on the ice bringing energy, pride, and tradition to Minnetonka Hockey.

Why the Ice Skippers?
Athlete Founded & Athlete Driven — The Ice Skippers were founded by current athletes Delilah Wolter and Noa Simms in 2025, with the goal of creating more opportunities for skaters to be involved in their school while continuing to pursue their individual passion for figure skating. This athlete-driven foundation keeps our program focused on skaters growth, connection, and performance opportunities.

Team Experience — Figure skating is often an individual sport, but the Ice Skippers bring athletes together to experience the power of a team. Skaters continue developing their personal skills while also learning teamwork, leadership, and collaboration in a supportive environment.
Performance & Skill Development — Our program offers a one-of-a-kind experience that combines figure skating with the excitement of live game-day performance. Athletes build confidence while learning to engage a crowd, perform with energy and precision, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced setting. From on-ice routines to off-ice cheering, skaters develop versatility that sets them apart.

Unique & Advanced Training — Our team is designed to mirror the intensity, skill, and performance quality of Division I hockey cheerleading. Athletes train in a fast-paced, high-level environment that prepares them for opportunities that few others have access to.
Even more uniquely, our coaching is rooted in Division I experience. With leadership coming from one of the most prestigious hockey cheerleading programs in the country, athletes gain firsthand insight into collegiate expectations, advanced choreography, and elite performance standards. For skaters looking to continue their athletic careers and be part of something innovative, the Ice Skippers provide a pathway like no other.
School Involvement & Community — As a varsity sport at Minnetonka High School, the Ice Skippers promote strong involvement within the school community. Athletes have the opportunity to represent their school in front of thousands of people, build school spirit, and be part of something bigger than themselves, all while forming lasting friendships and memories.

Team Culture — What truly makes the Ice Skippers special is the positive and supportive team culture. Every athlete is encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate progress, and contribute to the team’s success. It’s an environment where skaters feel valued, motivated, and connected.

Even if the hockey team loses, hockey cheer always wins.
